Good morning!

Holiday dinner was great but I over ate. Lots of veggies. Lots. And a few bites too many of dessert. But I’m starting my day light with a smoothie

I have no idea when this happened. And I have no idea WHY I had no idea because my condo is like directly across from the office….but my condo association finally took out the models and put in a sufficient gym:

I LOVE the open space.

Given that my condo has been taken over with baby stuff and I can’t exercise let alone walk without tripping over or knocking into a pack n’ play, bouncy seat, or teething toys and rattles….all while strategically maneuvering all of our stuff we had BEFORE Ella arrived.

The cardio equipment is meh but will do.

I am not much of a “machine” person…I’m more of a free weights and medicine ball kinda gal in which they are well equipped:

I actually just prefer to go into the open room with hardwood floors and do my thang. My gym got rid of my stretching area where I did a lot of my body weight bosu workouts. Now everyone is on top of everyone and it’s jam packed with machines<—hate.

If they had my smith machine and Bosu at the condo I would be almost complete

I still need my gym but it changed my life to know that I can walk across the way to go workout and Michael can’t cry about me going to the gym (on nights I can’t get there during the day) and watching the baby because I will cut out travel time and be right there if needed πŸ™‚ I can now workout more…well..if only Ella could be entertained easily and I could bring her. That would be fab.

Yesterday…I decided to walk over to the condo gym to reunite with an old friend.

^ I looooved these workouts before I was pregnant. It was my go-to aside from Body Rock when I wanted to “be trained” and not have to do the training. Tough workouts. And my abs were taken to the next level after incorporating some of these workouts into my routine.

I started to do Yoga X for 10 minutes….

which…

don’t get me wrong…it’s a TOUGH workout. But I was craving something that was going to get me moving more. Something hype not zen.

 

but the CD wouldn’t work.

So I did this one instead…

The belly looks like it did back in late first/ early 2nd trimester…I’m happy about that…

 

working on it with chaturanga:

Lots of lunging and squats

Including these roll up sit up squat thingys I was doing at the gym the other day that happened to be in my DVD again yesterday.

Killer.

Gotta say my favorite move ever is the banana roll. I used to master those. And a bunch of other stuff. Still can’t get over the significant loss in strength I’ve had post baby. You would think I would be even stronger…giving birth…carrying around a constantly growing baby. Nope.

[need to majorly work on my hamstring flexibility (which has gone to sh*t) WILL do 90 min Yoga X today/ or some type of yoga]

My thighs are screaming today. I also noticed it’s MUCH harder to engage my abs when doing intense exercise. Something that was so easy to do before.

I’m going to be super original today [insert sarcasm here] and bring you the taste of fall…sticking with the pumpkin/ squash theme of the week πŸ˜‰

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

The Fitness Dish

Serves: 1

-1 frozen banana

-3 Tablespoon pureed pumpkin [I use canned]

-3 Tablespoons hemp protein [or protein of choice]

-1 Tbsp ground flax

-1 Tbsp hemp seeds

-8-10 ounces unsweetened almond milk [depending on how thick you want it]

-1/2 tsp vanilla extract

-1/2 tsp cinnamon

-1/4 tsp nutmeg

-dash of ground ginger

-few ice cubes

Blend and enjoy πŸ™‚

    Turbofire is amazing, I love it!!! I also really like peakfitchallenge. I think I could the best results ever from this rotation. If you’d like, I can send on the dvds over to you, they’re just sitting here. I won’t do another rotation of it until next year. I’m doing a mix mash of Turbofire and Cathe Friedrich workouts at the moment. You look great in the photos, your abs look fab!

    I have turbofire and really like it. I also did Insanity last summer and it’s much more fun than Insanity. Great music and some of the workouts are HIIT and only 15-25 minutes…which is great if you’re pressed for time. I’ve always gotten a good workout from them.

    You look awesome Laury! Keep up the good work! I love p90X! Haven’t used it in awhile but the yoga is great! I know what you mean about needing something to pump your HR up a little more though!

    Your smoothie looks tasty! I don’t make too many smoothies but I just might have to try this one! I have a bit of a cold right now so I’m trying to shove as much fruits and veggies into my system as I can handle! haha

    i love love LOVE turbofire! i started with turbo jam, and my husband got me fire for my bday this year. i like them bc they make me feel explosive! theyre no nonsense work your butt off dvds. you do need to warm up before starting them though, i do about 15 mins on treadmill or a quick jog to get moving first. i want to try her other set, chaLEAN, which is more sculpting i think. i thought i would find her annoying bc shes really perky looking, but i actually really like her a lot.

    my pumpkin smoothie looks like this:
    1 scoop vanilla chai vega
    pumpkin puree
    unsweetened vanilla almond milk
    lots of cinnamon
    nutmeg
    frozen banana
    1 scoop of the trader joes “green” powder (pretty flavorless)

    yours looks delicious, im going to try that one!!

      Mmmmm! I usually use Vega Vanilla Chai but was out! It makes it SOOO good! TJ’s green powder? I need to look into that!!!

    never done turbo fire (too long for my attn span haha) i like to do free weights and open floor exercise too (prob why bodyrock is appealing to me) are you wearing a lulu tank? my pumpkin smoothie involves canned pumpkin, nut mylk, loads of cinnamon, tsp maca, cloves & nutmeg. i should add some nut butter to thicken it up.celebrating with coffee this thursday!~ you look so good laury! keep up all your hard work it’s paying off!!!

      They have them at Target! I got a purple one and a blue one at Target, but this pink one was from Marshalls. Champion makes them!

    I’ve never tried Turbo Fire but I love having an at home option when I don’t feel like leaving the house…when I do stay home I do Chris Fretag’s workouts on ExerciseTV…they’re awesome and I get a pretty kick butt workout out of them πŸ™‚

    I’ve never done turbofire…but have heard good things!
    I like pumpkin with sunwarrior, almond milk, pumpkin pie spices and a little molasses….
