Cheers to Friday!
I can’t believe we only have like a week left before school starts.
Who else feels like this summer has flown by?
I’m definitely looking forward to the fall.
The Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashana, I learned that it is known to be the traditional anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve) is actually in the fall, and I always thought that feeling of a fresh start has been so much more prevalent in September, more-so than January for me.
Pretty soon I am going to share some really big things I have going on.
Ugh, I hate when bloggers and people do that whole “I can’t share now, but I have big things happening” (insert eye roll).
And here I am saying it.
Well, I want you to know I am pouring my everything into my “brand” and have been doing some deep soul-searching to really figure out what my purpose is.
I’ve recruited a few friends and we should be ready to announce what we have going on really soon.
I am also working on a new wellness program, something free for you guys. The first of many so please give me some feedback in the comments on what YOUR biggest challenges are with food and exercise so I can help give you answers, if possible!
Anyway … I thought I’d keep it light today and share a few fun facts about me. This was inspired by Hal Bloss, the awesome local hair stylist and blogger who tagged me in his 11 questions post. I am going rogue though … to stick with my Friday theme and picking 5 for now 😉
(8 attempts to take a selfie with Jaxon, his idea, and this was one of the two least blurry ones. Life with boys! It’s so funny because he loves pictures and kept saying “cheese, again again!”)
1. What song would you choose to be your life’s theme song?
“Dream On” by Aerosmith
This is the HARDEST question ever. I love music, so much.
(10 years ago I would have said “Time” by Pink Floyd. I spent a lot of time wasting away in my comfort zone. I am grateful for the shift in perspective, but also aware that I have the tendency to do this!)
DREAM ONEvery time when I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face getting clearer
The past is gone
It went by, like dusk to dawn
Isn’t that the way
Everybody’s got the dues in life to payI know nobody knows
Where it comes and where it goes
I know it’s everybody sin
You got to lose to know how to winHalf my life
Is books written pages
Live and learn from fools and
You know it’s true, oh
All these things you do come back to youSing with me, sing for the years
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tears
Sing with me, just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good lord will take you awayYeah, sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tear
Sing with me, just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you awayDream on
2. Why did you start blogging?
When my husband and I (pre-kids) lived in our condo he played videos games and watched sports (a lot) and I was bored. So many of my friends would text me all day every day asking for healthy eating tips and information on different wellness things.
It kind of got redundant so I thought I needed to put all of this information in one place, so I could just reference it and save me time.
I had NO idea blogging was even a thing. When I went to my high school reunion, a few friends who found my blog through MySpace (lol!) told me they liked it and then I started finding other blogs through blogspot (my original platform), made some amazing connections, and the rest is history!
3. Favorite sweet treat?
Bassetts peanut butter swirl ice cream. Holy shit it is good! That or a really good chocolate mousse.
4. What has been your biggest challenge in blogging and how are you overcoming it?
Time management, finding my voice again, and niching down. I want to do it all!
5. Biggest Pet Peeve?
When people don’t respond to your texts/messages.
Come on, people! It is just common courtesy.
Everyone has their phones in their hands all of the time.
I am SUPER responsive, probably more than I should be because I know if I see a message and don’t respond I may forget, and yes it has happened a couple of times (and COMPLETELY get that it may be the case with a lot of people).
However, I am the person that people come to for all the things.
Not sure how that happened, but I am.
And you know what? I go above and beyond to help people problem solve. So when someone takes time out of their day to put together a thoughtful response, say thank you.
This makes me super sensitive when I take time to write a thoughtful response and I don’t even get a thank you. Just crickets.
You can see who views your message on FB, which is annoying because yeah, we don’t always have time to give an immediate response when you are being present and doing things.
I get it.
I don’t need an immediate response … just an eventual one in a somewhat timely matter.
I’m not talking about when it happens occasionally, because I know that happens and we are all forgetful.
I am talking about people who are serial text ignorers.
The funny thing is, I don’t even have it in me to ignore someone back or not respond … even if they do it to me! So if I don’t get back to you, there is probably a reason like I forget, or got distracted by the kids.
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
This was right up competing with people who don’t use turn signals
Have a wonderful weekend, loves!
