The kids, my mom, and I left for the shore Wednesday (leaving Mike and Willie at home to bond). If you follow along on Instagram story or Spapchat (@lauryannraik) you probably saw some of what we are up to before we head home this weekend.
The gym at the hotel we stay at is amazing. There are three or four big aerobics rooms, and at least one is usually vacant for me to do a yoga flow or a HIIT workout in. We are also hoping to rent some bikes with the kids for the boardwalk (fingers crossed the weather holds up!)
It is challenging navigating down there with Jaxon’s food allergies, but we know where we can go and I do pack a lot of food to bring. This year I am simmering down the amount of food since it gets really overwhelming, but I try to stick to something like this for the most part!
Here are my picks of the week! Enjoy! Let’s chat about them in the comments 🙂
Rose Water Spray
This is a MUST natural beauty purchase. I found this 100% rose water spray on Amazon, and use it a few times a day. In the morning after I wash my face and apply my creams, and at night after my crazy ass face cleansing and serum, shaving, ice rolling routine (I know, I know … seems excessive but actually isn’t once you get in a routine. It is my happy time of the night and helps me sleep well!). I also spritz it on my face on hot days to cool my skin down, or in the middle of the day over my makeup when my skin needs a refresher.
- Rose water has anti-inflammatory properties and helps maintain your skin’s pH balance.
- It makes for a really great astringent if witch hazel is too harsh or drying for your skin.
- Rose water cleans your pores and will help reduce red irritated looking skin, clearing your complexion, and may even stop wrinkles in their tracks!
- It is also amazing to put in your hair!
2. Favorite Sunscreen
There are SO many sunscreens to choose from. This is one I am really loving for my family. My friend, Jackie and a few others in my Essential Oils Wellness group on Facebook made this sunscreen with non-nano zinc oxide and carrot seed oil. Jackie has beautiful fair skin and Irish blood, and she told me her and her family used it in Disney and it worked really well!
Until I make my own, I use Bare Republic … it is at Target, affordable (not cheap, but affordable since a little goes a long way), and pretty clean with ingredients.
3. Everything but the Bagel Seasoning is EVERYTHING!
They bottled up my husband’s favorite bagel seasoning, and now I can add it to all the things! Cucumbers, fish, steak, salad dressing, avocado … you name it!
I just wish Trader Joe’s was closer, I just have to stock up on goodies when I get to it!
One of our Flowtoxers told us about this in our forum several months ago, and everyone has been going crazy for it since!
Have you tried it? How do you use it???
4. Favorite Travel Tip
I talked about Traditional Medicinal teas before and my obsession with them. Well, whenever I go to a hotel I’m sure to bring a bunch with me to make in the room. I just fill the coffee maker in the room with bottled water, set up the cup, add my tea bag, and done! It REALLY helps me to sleep in an unfamiliar place because tea is such a crucial part of my night routine.
Oh, and my satin eye mask …. I CAN NOT sleep in a hotel room without my eye mask!
5. Vino Rosé
Every time I discover a new rosé I feel like it is better than the last one I talked about.
Well, Whispering Angel is still my jam.
However, I discovered this at Redstone American Grill of all places!
My family and I eat there often (prime dip sandwich no bread, small salad instead of fries … do it) and once rosé weather hit I asked the waitress if they had it … and I tasted it (because usually the ones I taste are too sweet for me) … and it was awesome!
Last week I found it at wine and spirits and felt like a little kid on their birthday.
I got my girlfriend hooked too.
The one who showed up to meet me for a (what I thought to be) couple’s night thinking it was a girl’s night. That was a hilarious communication fail … luckily her parents and husband are the most laid-back people ever, and they were able to get a sitter quick so Mike wasn’t the third wheel all night!
I still laugh tears thinking about it!
We drank lots of Vino Rosé that night!
I actually brought some down the shore with me 🙂
On that note, enjoy your weekend! I’ll chat with you when I get back!
