Sweet Little Lies

Long time no talk. Sorry about that…this past week has been crazy! I am sure many of you can relate πŸ˜‰

I hope everyone that celebrates had a nice holiday! Mine ended up being very special. This was a bitter sweet week for me I don’t really want to get to into it but my grandmother went into hospice on Tuesday, she hasn’t been herself for a few years now, she was diagnosed with Dementia and Alzheimer’s in 2008, unfortunately it’s only gotten worse. My grandfather died on Christmas eve 11 years ago, and it started to bring a lot of those sad memories back. My mom is a rock, I know how tough of a week she had so Michael and I were glad we came up with this master plan to keep the spirits high…..

I told a fib…..

Remember when I told you all how I was NOT finding out the sex of the baby? Well, it pained me to do this because I am anything but a liar…in fact, I am absolutely terrible at it, that’s why I had to use the blog to distract me family so they would stop harassing me. No one bought the fact that we were going to wait to find out the sex. You see, I am a HUGE control freak, and everyone in my life knows that about me. So, when we told them that they had to wait until April they just wouldn’t accept it…until I posted it on here, then I think they thought it was official (because I would never lie to you all πŸ˜‰Β  ).

Michael and I had a master plan from the beginning. We found out the sex at our last ultrasound. If ANYONE from my family (especially Michael’s side) knew that we knew and they had to wait 11 days to find out…they would of tortured us. And I don’t trust myself NOT to slip…in fact, I had a couple accidents with the very few people that knew we had a plan (I did not tell anyone the sex).

I ordered a cake from Bredenbecks in Chestnut Hill:

I had ‘an in’ there. My brothers girlfriend SWORE to secrecy a few months ago when I presented her with the idea, she was not to say a peep to anyone in my family…and she kept her word πŸ™‚

It was a white layer cake, and inside revealed the sex of the baby:

We were to present it to my mom and my mother-in-law on Christmas eve….

They had no idea:

and couldn’t wait to cut into it once they realized what it represented…

All they did was cut the knife in and they saw the color right away and started freaking out…

-I don’t know how these people think they all know…but to give them credit, they did call it.

Ok….I’ll stop torturing you all now πŸ˜‰

The result was…..

I CAN’T WAIT for pigtails, dresses and Disney princess movies!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will post a holiday recap of the food soon. I was so excited/ anxious/ distracted with the announcement that I forgot to takeΒ  A LOT of the food pics…but I got a few. I did an unreal amount of baking, and captured about a fraction of it. I also made a really delish salad that I will share the recipe for soon πŸ™‚

Right now I am looking out the window at the first Blizzard of the season! It waited until the day after Christmas to snow…they even canceled the Eagles game tonight….Michael is way bummed.

Enjoy the rest of your day!!!
