Last week I found my new favorite restaurant. A lunch spot, really.

So when my friend, Dana asked me to have lunch this week I told her I had JUST the place 🙂

How come I never heard of them before??!!!

Sweet Green is located in Suburban Square in Ardmore across from The Farmers Market. They just opened here in December. This area really needed a place like it! I can’t even tell you how excited I was when I saw it for the first time! I called Michael from the car when I first drove by and was like “look up the menu, find out the deal, is it lunch, dinner, what’s going on here!!??” His response “It’s RIGHT up your alley.” I then did a u-turn and checked it out for myself.

All of the ingredients are local, organic and delicious.

I am sure a lot of you over on the West Coast have places like this on every corner. When we get one around here, I can not contain my excitement.

Sweet Green has locations in DC, MD, PA and VA so us East Coasters are not all out of luck 😉

Have you ever ate at one?

Here’s what we feasted on:

Dana’s looked amazing. She got the Chic P

mesclun & baby spinach with baked falafel, chickpeas, cucumbers, fresh peppers, pita chips; topped with a lemon hummus tahini dressing. vegan

I decided to do the mix  your own salad. I can never decide on what I want and I always want everything 😉

spinach, alfalfa sprouts, avocado, carrots, tomato, cucumber, some baked kale chips and a little taste of falafel with the lemon hummus tahini dressing. vegan

Do you think I enjoyed it?

the salads come with this delicious buckwheat bread. They also can put your creation on a falafel wrap….which I will be trying next time 🙂

As for Thirsty Thursday, my drink of the day is from the Farmers Market:

This was called “The Beach Body” LOL. Considering my body is in no condition for the beach right now, but I don’t currr 😉

Beets, Carrot, Celery, Cucumber, Parsley, Apple

delish!

*******Speaking of my beach body…..Happy 32 Weeks to me yesterday! I’ve updated my belly pictures here! Check em’ out, yo!*********

My mother in law and I are going to meet one of the pediatricians on my list this afternoon.

Then, later, I am SUPER excited….because…yes…

they brought back prenatal yoga on Thursday Nights! Woot Woot! Can’t wait to go to a live class again 🙂

BTW–Thanks so much for your support in the Women’s Health Blogs We Love 2011 🙂 Not sure if The Fitness Dish will even make it to the next level, but I do appreciate the nominations!

What’s your Thirsty Thursday Drink of the day???

Do you have an amazing salad/ lunch place you love? One that uses local and organic ingredients?

Anything you would like to see in The Friday Five?

Have a great day!!!

Yummy, oh my gosh your friends salad looks sooooooo good. Yours does too but hummus and chickpeas are my favorite foods in the entire world and her salad is filled with them! It’s only 5am right now but I am wishing I had a big bowl for breakfast. I live in Florida and we don’t really have too much like that around here. I live in a college town so I’m really surprised there isn’t something like that. I would have your same reaction if they did end up getting a place like sweetgreen around here.

Sweet Green looks like a great place to eat, we have something similar called the Happy Pear and the guys who run it are hot too so that’s a bonus. My latest smoothie thirsty drink buzz is chocolate peanut butter smoothie with chocolate rice protein powder, peanut butter, almond milk and some ice- yummy yummy yummy.

Would love to know something about best foods to eat before and after exercise. Love the belly pic, you’re nearly there, exciting!

Thanks..can’t believe I am going to get even bigger! Not much more room in there! Thanks for the suggestion. I will have to save that for another post, could be hard making it into a Friday 5 since there is a lot of info that comes with it.

I am always jealous when I see places like this on blogs. There is nothing like that in the tiny town I live in. We finally got a grocery store with a salad bar recently. I like it, but it never really changes from day to day, so it gets a wee bit repetitive.

Hey hey beautiful girl! Im glad you dont CURRRRR about the beach bod thing. You would have loved hanging around me when I was prego. I just went to the pool with my overly pregnant self and floated around with a drink in my hand, white legs, oversized chest, ridiculous huge belly, and watched all the sexy woman there with oil all over them laying out. I was like “bring it girls” while i just continued to float and float and float. hahaha.. but you look awesome! Seriously! I cant believe you are 32 weeks. Crazy how fast the time goes.
We do have tons of great restaurants in Southern California and I LOVE it. I especially love to support the smaller local little businesses. i totally get excited when we get new things like that though. We just got an ALL vegan grodery store where I live. So cool, right? im so excited!
    Have a fab day girl!

Hey my gorgie girlie! That would have been awesome floating preggo in the pool with you. I love it. My mom sported a bikini and laid in a kiddy pool all summer with my youngest brother. Everyone thought he was going to come out looking like a cocoa bean but he was blonde with light eyes!

I need to move to SoCal. You get the BEST places. That grocery store sounds amazing for you!!!! XO

What a cute little restaurant! Luckily here in Vancouver we have a ton of fresh eateries like this around, but I do need a good juice bar! 1 of the WF”s here doesn’t even have a juice bar?! I know…

I love Sweet Green! I might be kind of biased because it was started
by a bunch students from where I went to Grad School! The first Sweet
Green was in this little shack near our campus, and I used to go there
all the time when I lived in DC.

Ohhh…how cool! Yes, I saw they have several locations in DC. I guess that’s why!
