Good Morning! Happy Monday to you all!
How is everyone adjusting the the time change? Although I really don’t like losing an hour of sleep these days, I do enjoy the extra daylight!
While Munchkin spent most of the weekend doing this….
Michael and I were busy doing this….
An all day Childbirth Class at the hospital. 9-4:30.
It was brutal sitting in the uncomfortable auditorium seats all day. However, I am glad we did the class. I got a lot of unanswered questions answered. We were told to bring 2 pillows. The only thing I ended up using them for was to make my chair more comfortable. She gave us the option to get on the floor to practice breathing, but no one wanted to break the ice and do it. I actually did, just because I was sick of sitting in the chairs…but Michael said no way.
I won’t bore you with all the stuff we learned. I will tell you how comical it was…the instructor wanted “the coaches” to be very involved so she made them do EVERYTHING. The beginning of class, Michael had to introduce us, our due date, if we knew the sex, favorite thing about pregnancy, what we could live without, etc. If you know my husband, you KNOW that he hates talking in front of crowds. I mean, the man works in sales, but outside of work he is shy, unless he has s few blue moons. 😉
He had to pick something out of a bag (when talking about relaxation techniques) so we could all guess what it was used for. He had to read a question when she “quizzed” us on what we talked about. Poor thing. Honestly, even if he won’t admit it (but he won’t deny it), I think he’s also happy we went. He was spouting stuff to me later that I must have missed (when the ADD kicked in). So he was definitely listening and learned. Even though he was traumatized by the graphic birth video they showed with the hairy lady parts and all :/
All in all, we went through all the material briefly. There was just SO much material, and our instructor liked to talk. She was very knowledgeable so that was good. Everyone was telling me they spend way too much time on breathing techniques, and we seriously only spent like 10 minutes on it. Not 2 hours like others had warned me.
I DID learn that there are a BAZILLION things I need to pack..I am already an over packer so this is going to be trouble. Saving this topic for a later post though.
We toured the maternity floor. My sister in law had my nephew there so it was all familiar. The rooms are nice, and the recovery room is private (no roomates) so that was a good thing. They have WiFi, so hopefully I’ll be able to blog while we’re there 😉 I just don’t have a Canon RAW format converter for my cam on the laptop, so I need to get on that so I can post pics from the hospital for you guys! I also need to learn how to put videos from our video cam on the computer. I have had no patience to sit and learn how to edit and format videos. My mind is just not working at that capacity these days.
Sunday I drug my poor hubby out again. We needed to buy the ceiling fans for the nursery (and decided to get one put in our bedroom while he’s at it). We also wanted to order the crib:
I had a 20% off coupon, but apparently only the cover for it? Seriously, not sure where my head is at. We decided to do the 6 month interest free financing to save an additional 10% but my coupon was no good. They guy told me that in the booklet that coupon came with was the coupon so he suggested we go home and find it. This was a matter of saving $100. on the crib so we left and decided to look for the coupon when I got home. I found another that starts on Tuesday, so we will just go back this week to order it.
After Babies R Us I wanted to hit up Home Depot and Lowes. You see, Michael HATES the area that we were in for some reason? It’s not a bad area, he just doesn’t like “the vibe.” there was a Home Depot, Target and Lowes all within 10 minutes of Babies R Us, but he wanted to go BACK to the stores in “our area.” Made no sense, but I drug the poor guy out again so I wasn’t arguing.
My embarrassing/ scary moment of the weekend:
Before we went out, I had to run over my moms for something. I ate, and told him to heat up the leftover rice and veggies for lunch before I came back. Low and behold, we’re on our way and he tells me he needs to grab something to eat while we are out. He never ate lunch. So on our way BACK to the other Lowes he asks me to run in this pizza place for him and grab him a slice. Again, no reason to argue with him. The poor guy works hard all week and I was dragging him out on Saturday and Sunday even though he should have eaten before we left). I figured I would make him happy and go grab him a slice real quick since he was driving, hungry, and wishing he was home relaxing.
So this ridiculous pizza place that I have never ever stepped foot in has this weird door. We parked on the side, and I literally rushed in and opened the door from a side angle. Now, imagine you walk into a place, and you expect the floor to be all even ground. Nope, the door was up against like a 3-4 inch curb that was their floor that you need to step up onto, but it’s really not noticeable. The fit Laury is trapped in an 8 1/2 month pregnant Laury, and fell straight to the ground. I can not even tell you the last time I fell. I was maybe a kid? I have tripped a million times, but ALWAYS catch myself. No worries, I dropped on my knees and planted my hands down, so my belly made no contact. My knees are skimmed and my hands are sore, but other than that Ella and I are FINE.
I was really mortified though. I think the girl that worked there was too she was like “OMG, you have a baby, are you OK?” “You’ve never been here before I assume, that’s why you tripped.” On the way out I saw the sign that said “watch your step” but who’s looking for that? I didn’t walk in straight from the front. Scary stuff. Luckily Ella was making waves on my belly and moving around just fine in the car and the rest of the day. We learned in childbirth class the day before that it’s a myth minor falls cause miscarriage. Yes, try and avoid it as much as possible. they can be really bad if you get injured really bad. Protect the belly, and call your doctor if you are concerned and fall. But the baby is protected in the amniotic fluid. The later in your pregnancy, the bigger the baby is so you need to be careful. However, I hear it’s a lot more common than not that us preggos fall at least once during these 10 months. Our center of gravity is totally off, our ligaments are all loose, and we are space cadets. Recipe for disaster. This wasn’t the case with my situation, this place should have “trip on your way coming in” as their slogan. Weirdest thing I have ever seen. The rest of the day I kept feeling like I was going to fall or someone was going to run me over or into me. It was like I was in this protection mode or something. I really need to remember to tread carefully through the world. It’s just SO hard for me. I still move around like I weigh 30 pounds less with no belly.
I was so exhausted by the time we got home. Both days this weekend. What is it with me? I crashed on the couch and napped a couple hours next to Munchkin on his blanket 🙂
The beautiful Morgan at Little House of Veggies introduced me to Brazil But Milk. She commented on Thursday that it’s a MUST try to make with some tropical fruit smoothies 😀
She told me the method, which is pretty much the same for Almond Milk.
Excited to blend it up, but was too tired last night to make it. Will let you all know how it is. I trust Aunty Mo Mo though, she’s a culinary genius 🙂
How long is TOO long to soak your nuts? Mine ended up sitting all afternoon (since I planned to make it yesterday and decided not to) and then overnight…
Off to train some clients, go to the gym for my workout (what me sore hands and knees allow), then the market so I can make a yummy post workout smoothie with my new Brazil Nut Milk 🙂
What did you do all weekend?
Most embarrassing moment?
