Nose Bidet/ Neti Pot

Thanks for all the well wishes yesterday, guys! I am feeling a little better but still not 100%

I can’t believe I totally forgot to use my most trusted home remedy during the winter and allergy months.

My Neti Pot!

The Neti Pot: Also know as a “nose bidet” is used to “flush-out” the nasal cavity using a saline solution and warm water. These are used along with the practice of yoga to “cleanse” your nasal passages, and some use it as regularly as brushing their teeth.

Nasal irrigation is used to treat a wide range of chronic sinus and nasal symptoms; for chronic rhinosinusitis it is an effective adjunctive therapy. According to patient self-reports it improves quality of life and reduces use of medication, including antibiotics. Further evidence suggests that nasal irrigation causes relief for both hay-fever and the common cold.

I could have been using this all week and maybe I wouldn’t have gotten so sicky 🙁

Anyway, used it twice yesterday and I felt all cleared up right after. I got a little stuffed again later, but the more I use it the better I am sure I will feel!

Michael and I are off the the hospital today. I have a non-stress test (mostly  because I am past my due date and to make sure she’s OK) in the morning then a doctors appointment in the afternoon. We will find out what’s going on with my little stubborn Taurus daughter. Fingers crossed they tell me I am 4cm dilated, going into labor and need to stay. Wishful thinking?

Make sure you check out my tweets, or my facebook page I will keep you posted if there is anything going on!

I will try on facebook, still not 100% sure how to update my blog page on there from my phone.

For now…here’s a freaky video of my belly from last night. Michael suggested I capture Ella’s foot running across my stomach alien-style for the bloggie. Check it out from about 51 seconds on.… At 54 seconds you see a foot go from right to left then a bunch of other freaky deeky movements after 😉

Have a great day!!

Do you own a Neti Pot?

Oh my gosh, that is so cool!!! 🙂 I’ll cross my fingers for you today!!

That is so funny about the Neti pot. My boyfriend was thinking of getting one for his allergies (he is mainly allergic to the kitty and I’m NOT getting rid of the cat, no way jose). He is stuffed up a lot. I hope he gets it and it helps.

Good luck today Laury! I hope the test goes well. I don’t own a Neti Pot but usually when I’ve got a cold, my remedies are vitamin C, some sort of cold & flu meds (if I’m really desperate – I try not to medicate though!) and as much sleep as possible. Keeping my fingers crossed for you today!!

    Hey Laury!
I just finished up my pre-natal yoga training and the woman yesterday was telling us that about 75% of women’s due dates are incorrect since they are based on a 28-day cycle and most women don’t adhere to that. A due date is more like ‘the baby will be here around now’, not ‘by this date’. Your belly looks amazing and I’m sure you look very beautiful in person. 🙂

      Hey Jen, Thanks!!

I know that whole theory and I understand it. We were not going by my period. I knew when I ovulated, and when I implanted….then I estimated my DD based on that. When we went to our first doc appointment we did an internal ultrasound that my doctor said was 95% accurate. That date was only about 1 or 2 days off from what I predicted based on ovulation, period, implantation, etc. It could still be off, but also most first pregnancies go late, it is how it is! 🙂

The Neti Pot – is something my fiance swears by haha
After many years of dating he always told me to get one and finally I did about 2 years ago and use it occasionally. Luckily for me I do not get sick that often but when I have issues with my nose I tend to grab the neti pot 😉

    Hi Laury,
I’m glad to hear that you are feeling better! Good ol’ Neti Pots! I first got one 11 years ago and I’ve gotten so many people hooked on them since! I haven’t used mine in a year or so (haven’t needed to), but they can really be a life saver!
Okay, I used window crayons to write all over my sweet, super, smart, sensational seventeen year old’s car windows today! Today’s the day I predicted for you! I hope it happens! 🙂 All the best to you at your appointment today!

I have a Neti pot. It sure does take a little getting use to. Not the most instinctual thing to do…pouring water in one’s nose but things do feel cleaner and smell fresher when I actually get the procedure done correctly. That video is so cool!

I have hay fever and so my allergies can get bad, heard about the neti pot on oprah when she had dr oz on. My store had a squeeze bottle one so I went with that love it. It was weird at first as long as you don’t breath in while doing it your fine. It works wonders though. I have also read local honey is great for outdoor allergies so I’m gonna start using some and see if it makes an improvement. Good luck today!

I don’t have a neti pot, but I do cleanse my nasals w/ medi cleanse. Does this do the same as neti pot? Heard a lot about this lately, but don’t know much about it. Weird video. Amazing how well you could see her moving.
