It’s A …

“Oh No!” Said the Weez who insisted she was getting a “baby sister”

But, really,  she’s super excited

Yay!

We took the Weez to my Ultrasound last Thursday. She was the cutest, all dressed up in pink, with her pink sunglasses and pink pocketbook, waiting to see her “baby sister or baby brother.” I had a slight feeling this one was a boy, but how can you really know these things? Of course, we surprised our family again. They knew we were finding out, but didn’t think it was until later. Mike’s birthday is this week, and we went to dinner with his family on Friday. I told them I was getting him a cake and “didn’t care if he got mad.” Mike hates a fuss being made, and the last thing in the world you want to do is order a cake, with candles and sing to him in a crowded restaurant. But he was on board with the plan.

We called Bredenbeck’s, who did Ella’s gender reveal cake. I didn’t want to do that again, but also figured NO ONE would expect me to do a cake, period, since we did for Weez.  So I ordered a chocolate chip cake with vanilla buttercream frosting and a chocolate fondant outer layer (YUM) and told them I would call Thursday with what I wanted it to say. After the ultrasound we talked about it and came up with this:

Since it was Mike’s birthday, instead of saying “Happy Birthday” or “It’s A Boy” we put “Daddy’s Getting a Little Slugger.” We told his family we were going to find out on the 14th, and announce it at the Jewish Holiday dinner…so we were able to get this little surprise in early.

We ate at The Lucky Well in Ambler, the owner is was on Food Network apparently. The food was amazing (I HIGHLY recommend the kale and Brussels sprout Caesar salad and The Well burger!), and they could not have been more helpful and accommodating in helping us to pull this off. Weezy could not WAIT to sing “Happy Birthday” to Daddy, as you can see…and no one had a clue, they were all laughing about the fact that I “did this to Mike” with the cake and obnoxious fire cracker candle. Finally, once the flame went out, he said to his mom “what does that even say” and she read it out loud, and of course, they were all excited. Another great pull-off by this dynamic duo.

It’s much tougher to get my family together, with Ella’s reveal it was easy because it was around the holidays. We didn’t want to wait for an occasion of course so decided to tell them separately. We asked my mom to babysit on Saturday night, and decided to get a ton of balloons and when she came over she walked right into them in our foyer. She was ecstatic. My sister came over and Ella brought out some balloons and the ultrasound pic and said “surprise!” Then I told my brothers over the phone.

One of each. We are thrilled!

I just hope the Weez is a little more tolerant of her little brother than I was of mine between the ages of 5 and 16

Here we go!

Gah, I’m so excited for you all!! You’re going to love adding a little boy to the mix. My 2 yr old son is, as they say, ALL BOY! He’s into trucks, play construction, and rough play. I think that’s what makes it even more special when he’s playing and he stops all of a sudden and says,” I give Mommy kiss.” And he leaves all of his “manly” toys to come give me a hug and a kiss. Melts my heart.<3 You're gonna love it!!
