Hey everyone! I love all of passionate discussion we had going on in my last two posts! I really love hearing everyone’s experiences and views on GMO’s as well as your thoughts on giving up grains to kick the sugar habit (as well as thoughts on why you shouldn’t fear fat!) Some of your GMO comments really got me riled up.
I’ve been spending every free moment cleaning and clearing out our condo. I got rid of about 3 bags of clothes (to donate) and a few bags of trash. Next week we are going to start showing our house (fingers crossed)! So I don’t know how often I will be updating here, but I’ll be around when I can!
For now I wanted to share a fun post with you. Here’s a recap of our trip down to Baltimore to visit friends….
We had a great time!
Friday morning we drove down to the Inner Harbor. Michael, Ella, my mom, my little brother and I.
Here’s a photo looking out the window from our hotel room! We stayed at the Marriot Waterfront. What an incredible view!
Ella had an absolute blast from the moment we got there. She took a nice, long nap on the way down so she and Big Bird were rip roaring and ready to go!
We walked around the inner harbor. Mike and I haven’t been to Baltimore in about 7 years? We have a friend that moved there, then he moved around a lot for work…but now he and his wife are back. It was really great to see them, catch up, and share some good food and some laughs.
Friday afternoon my family and I went for a light lunch at Phillips. It was a short walk from our hotel:
After lunch we got our tickets for the aquarium for Saturday morning. Then we went back and relaxed and got ready for a night out. My mom and Ella had a girls night in, while Mike, my brother and I met up with our friends at Ra, an amazing Japanese restaurant. I don’t have any photos, but I will tell you I broke my “grain-free” diet for some sushi. It was well worth it. And I never felt so full in my life after we left there. I can’t even tell you the last time I had sushi. Too long. I asked if they could make it without the rice, but she told me it would just fall apart. I said, “screw it, when in Rome.” And it was worth every bite.
Saturday we woke up early and went to the aquarium.
I haven’t been to the aquarium since the last time Mike and I were in Baltimore about 8 years ago? I think I was blonde. And believe we weren’t engaged yet so it had to be a while ago.
Ella loved riding in the cool backpacks they provide. It killed me though, the straps were not short enough or something. So we all took turns. My mom actually said it felt good on her back. That it stretches it or something?
About 20 minutes in she was passed out.
My favorite was the new Australian exhibit
Sharks fascinate me also:
It’s SO difficult to get photos of them in the dark creepy water.
This fish was so cute, he put on a show for us:
The grossest part was seeing a hissing cockroach from the rainforest close up:
Most photogenic goes to the jellyfish:
And finally, I think we all collectively enjoyed the dolphin presentation. Ella even woke up for this one:
We left and grabbed a quick, cheap lunch at Chipolte after the aquarium.
Ella was trying to pick up chicks for my brother in the lobby
There was this “college frog” girl she would NOT leave alone. I felt so bad. Ella is obsessed with Big Bird. If you notice in every photo of her, Big Bird is there. She wanted this poor girl to have big bird so bad. I think it was some kid of sign.
Our friends wanted to see Ella so they met up for a little at our hotel, then we just relaxed in the room for a bit. Random….did you know that the natural way to open a banana is from the bottom?
That’s the way monkey do it. It’s much easier to peel that way too!
Saturday night we went out to an early dinner in Canton
I got an heirloom tomato salad with lump crabmeat. It was amazing! And Ella ate about 4 shrimp all to herself hahah.
We all went back to the hotel and showered. I could have easily stayed in with my mom and Ella; but I sucked it up and went out. I’m glad I did because a few friends from home also drove down that night to meet up. It was a nice surprise, and we all had a great time in Federal Hills!
I especially loved spending time with my brother. He goes to school in upstate NY, and even though he’s been here al summer we haven’t gotten a chance to spend a lot of one on one time together. He and Mike get along really well too, so it’s always a lot of fun. (side note: how handsome is my brother, ladies? Seriously! He’s single, a smart computer science major, AND he’s a musician. He’s also going to kill me for writing this. But probably not because he’s too sweet).
CJ was obsessed with “Natty Boh” all weekend. I’m a Blue Moon girl. Usually one and done, but I had 2 1/2 over the course of a night, with lots of water in between, and felt so sick the next day. I’m the biggest light weight known to man. Truly a cheap date.
This was pretty much our summer vacation. We go to the shore again in a few weeks, then it’s all over I can’t believe how quickly these past few months flew by! Hopefully we can go back to Balti to visit our friends in the fall. CJ was saying how he would love to do his co-op there. I’d visit him all the time! It’s really not much further than the Jersey shore for us.
Off to cook Ella dinner and get ready for work!
