I’m a Mom….

Hey, everyone!

How was the weekend?

I was SO thrilled to hear that Gina had her beautiful baby girl early on Sunday morning [as many of you probably know]. Congrats again to her and her family!!! That’s two blogger babies in the past couple of weeks! I love it!

Our weekend wasn’t as exciting but it was nice. The weather was beautiful and we got out a good bit. Power yoga was much needed Sunday morning…

I love how it’s never the same workout each week. It’s always a little different and there are always new challenges to make me groan. Big time ass kicking for sure.

Today I hit the weights. I started out with my normal dynamic warm-up and a 4 minute tabata jump rope workout. I followed that with a back and biceps workout:

^superset X3

Then I did 20 minutes of intervals on the elliptal, stretched and called it a day.

Over the weekend we did our usual Friday night dinner with the baby. I love having Siri on hand. She knows where I am and if we’re unsure of where we’re going to go out to eat all I have to do is ask her to call around for me Winking smile

We wanted to try Joe’s Crab Shack that just opened in KOP. They don’t do reservations but they WILL take your phone number and text you when your table is ready! How cool!!?? So we could go across to the mall and walk around if it’s an hour wait. We didn’t go because it was almost 7 and by the time we went and our table would have been ready it would be waaay past Ella’s bedtime. We opted for one of our fav local spots instead. [Another new favorite milestone is Ella using a high chair in restaurants…it’s seriously a life changer as far as eating out…in a great way!]

Saturday I got a lot done around the house and we ended up going out with our close friends that night. I haven’t been to Manayunk [for a night out] in a long time. I think since before Ella was born.

It was amazing catching up with my best girlfriend. We don’t see each other often, and we don’t even get to chat as much as we used to…but whenever we are together we just pick up where we left off. We always have a great time together. Lots of laughs. The four of us (husbands and us girls) had dinner then hung out at the bar for some drinks.

It was funny, I was looking around at the bar and suddenly it was like everyone looked like they were about 16 year old to me. I turned to my girlfriend (our guys were chatting away behind us) and asked her if it was just me? She said, no, but the funny thing is they are probably about 23 years old and they just look really young to us.

Moments later, one of the “children” I was referring to (the sixteen year old looking twenty three year old) was standing awkwardly close to me, smirking. I gave him a funny look and he said: “sorry to be so awkward…but…um…hi, you’re pretty, what’s your name?” This kid obviously had a couple in him as he stumbled through his words. My girlfriend and I looked at each other and just kind of smiled. Our husbands are standing right behind us enjoying the show.

The kid was getting a little close, borderline fresh so I had to send him off before he even got started. I said to the kid, jokingly: “Hello. Before I tell you my name, I have to ask… are you even old enough to be in here?”  Him: “Aww, come one…” Me: “I just want to tell you up front that #1. I’m an old lady, I ‘m like…30.” “Number two, I’m a mom,  and number three…my husband is standing right there and he’s a pretty big guy so you may not want to get fresh.”

He wasn’t super creepy or anything, he was just realllly young. It made it kind of comical. My baby brother is 21, and he looked about the same age as him. Michael would never start a fight or anything, he’s a big teddy bear, and he’s 32 years old, pretty past the get drunk and start a fight in the bar phase [<-he never actually went through that phase though], number 3 we’ve been together for about 10 years now, we are both pretty, well beyone secure with each other so these types of things just make us laugh when they happen. Whenever I would get hit on in the past, he would come over after keeping an eye from a distance for 5 or 10 minutes [<—which was annoying when it WAS a creepster] and then come and put his arm around me, say “she’s beautiful, huh?” Then shake the guys hand and buy him a beer. Or the guy would feel bad and buy Michael a beer. Usually the latter. Michael never pulled the tough guy “she’s my property” act though. He doesn’t need to.

After I pointed out my husband, the kid still wasn’t getting it. He was all: “Wait, you say you’re 30, you have a baby and your husbands a big guy?” “That’s okay, that makes it fun.” Leigh got a big kick out of that line. At that point about 3 of his friends came over and escorted him away and apologized to me, while I noticed another friend shake Michael’s hand and say “don’t mind him…I said “oh, it’s fine, no hard feelings, he kind of made our night.”  Hahaa. I went over to Michael and was like “I guess I still got it, huh!?”  Michael was so cute about it.

My girlfriend and I are used to getting hit on though Winking smile. We’re sexy as hell…LnL

We had a good laugh. Michael was like, “you deserved that.” He said he wished that  HE would get hit on every now and then. I said, “Me too babe. You deserve it, you’re hott too.”

My husband and I remind me of Christina Applegate and Will Arnett in “Up All Night” but waaaay less funny.

The most excitement we have in our house right now is that this little one never wants to sleep anymore:

exhibit A:

12:30am and so sleepy.

exhibit B:

9pm [bedtime was at 7] after calming her down when trying to let her cry it out.

We are weak. Very, very weak.

Michael and my ritual as soon as we hear the crying is “Uh Nooo” Then, we give in and get her and in a loud screechy voice we both say “WHYYYY ARE YOU UPPPPP???!”

My guess is part teething, part behavioral. I think this baby needs to be Ferberized.

^I actually tried it and it kind of worked. My husband is the biggest push over for her though. The holidays ruined everything. Ella knows how to work him. And now that she’s pulling herself up and sitting up in the crib, he feels so bad letting her cry. The second time she got so mad and fell back to hit her head on the rails I gave in to getting her whenever she is sitting up too.

What kind of trouble did you get into this weekend??

Have a great night!

I’m off to catch up on emails, shower, work on my CEC’s? {<who am I kidding?} then hit the sack. Goodnight!

Thanks for the shout out girl!

I love this story — you are a HOT mama so it’s no wonder that you got hit on by a youngin’. And your response was great as well. When you’ve got it, you’ve got it.

I can’t believe Ella is already in a high chair! Time flies!

I totally know how you feel cause I don’t get to see my best friend that often, but when we do get together I feel like we’re in high school again and you can’t get us to stop talking!!

Loved the story of the youngin’ hitting on you. You had me laughing there! Not surprised that you got hit on though because you’re such a pretty mamma. 🙂

Speaking of pretty, little miss Ella is adorable as ever. I noticed that her skin looks oh so flawless and smooth. Must be all those avocados you’re feeding her! 🙂

Bahahahah!!! I was thinking today…when can you justify being called a MILF? Would it be now, as a new mom…or later when I have multiple kids that are a little older? I wonder the ruling on that one 😉 Hmmm….

Haha… I’m sure it’s flattering to know you’ve still got it, even if that guy was balls-y and too young.

No trouble this weekend… I ran a half-marathon with little training and scoped out photo studios.

That’s hilarious! I have noticed the same thing when I’ve been out in the past couple years…either the guys are all old and creepy, or they’re young and annoying (not on purpose I’m sure—but 23 year old boys are just annoying by nature).
Hope the babe gets the sleep memo sometime soon—maybe just explain to her how awesome sleep is and that she’ll really love bedtime someday 🙂

I went out this weekend, to a wine walk thingy, and it was awful so we ended up on my couch drinking wine…and that turned out to be a lot of fun. Nothing crazy this weekend though!

Hahahah love that story. Dan’s style is similar when we are at the bar- he used to encourage me to lead the guy on, get free drinks, and then he would come over and drink them.
