Oh and I finally mastered coconut whipped cream!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

What was the best thing you ate?

I definitely went on a cookie bender! I got my ass handed to me in power yoga this morning and sweat out some toxins. Christmas eve I don’t think I ate one real thing all day..just “samples” of all my baking lol. And wine.

Talk soon! I am still spending limited time on the computer and I have to admit…I kind of like it!

Hope you had a lovely Christmas Laury, love all the photos, I love your dress, you look so pretty. Sounds like Ella enjoyed her first Christmas and the food looks wonderful. My best part of Christmas was hanging out with the family and we got to eat my gingerbread house that I made- tasty

Whoa, your mom looks really young. You got some good genes in you, lucky girl 🙂

And I thought you said “I want a cookie blender” instead of I went on a cookie bender. I almost started googling what a cookie blender was and how I hadnt heard of it!

I ate waaaaaaay too much but I would say the candy cane pie from Village Inn was the best thing I had…..for breakfast the past few mornings!

Although I’m about sick of sweets (I know… crazy), I totally want that cheesecake! The best thing I ate was the vegan gingerbread I made. It was an Oh She Glows recipe, so of course it was awesome.

Adorable photos! I remember that you had a post quite awhile ago about introducing Ella to solids and I was wondering if you had thought about giving us an update? My little girl is very close in age to yours and I am curious to see what you have her on so far. I am making my way through tons of fruits and veggies and have started chicken and turkey and beans. I am making all my own food and trying to stay as organic as possible. I feel like there are so many different thoughts out there on when to introduce different things. It can be confusing, but I am just trying to go with my “mommy instinct” :). Have you given her any spices yet? My little girls seems to love most of everything… except avocado! I sneak it into things though and she doesn’t seem to notice :).
Would love to hear your thoughts!

Hello, Shan…I will consider doing another post on that soon. I’ve been trying to keep it more balanced between fitness and recipe posts and less baby type posts since there are SO many different opinions and philosophies out there. I am new to all of it 🙂

As far as Ella’s solid food I am pretty much doing only fruits and veggies at this point. No grains, no meat. Her pediatrician is on board and we are still doing one food at a time and only mixing things that she’s had already. I decided since my previous post to hold off until she turned 6 months to regularly give her food. Once she turns 9 months I am thinking about introducing spices like cinnamon, etc

I hear babies love the taste of avocado but hate the consistency. have you tried pureeing it in a food processor? Ella loves it that way but hates it when I try to mash it or have her gum it. Also, mixed with some banana and it’s amazing (I know you said you are mixing it already).

I am following a lot from this book:

Her site is a wealth of information and so far following her advice has really worked for us. Ella is doing great! her digestion seems really good and she’s growing nicely. Of course you have to do what it best for your baby….hence “mommy instinct.”

Once I figure out how to separate baby posts from my main page like Fitnessista does, I am thinking about sharing more “baby food” recipes or just things that Ella likes since they are not really “recipes.” Along with any other updates.

Thanks for your comment. You can also email me any time if you ever want to chat “mommy” 🙂

Thanks for replying! I’d love more baby posts, but completely understand that not all your readers are new moms… and that you don’t want the unsolicited advice :). I have lots of resources, but feel that your approach to health and nutrition is similar to mine, which is why I was curious as to where Ella is at on her solids!

I have tried pureeing her avocado in the past and it has definitely gone down easier then when I just mash it. Perhaps I just need to keep trying as it is a great thing to have around if I don’t have anything fresh and have forgotten to pull food for her out of the freezer!

        Thanks for sharing!

Laury, I just wanted to wish you a happy new year. Your blog is one of my ‘guilty pleasures’ between all the demands of a busy life. Taking some personal time is a great idea. I think some bloggers pressure themselves to post every day and it’s crazy. The posts are never up there long enough! Also, how you do it all, with a baby, is beyond me. Quality, not quantity.
All the best to you and your family. x
