Hello, My Pretties.
Gawsh. Do I have a tummy ache today. Yesterday too. Totally naus. And I haven’t really worked out since Saturday…boy, this is motivating already, isn’t it???? Worst feeling ever. Don’t worry…I plan on
attempting doing some yoga after this post. Hopefully it settles my stomach down.
We got back from Atlantic City yesterday. I didn’t get much sleep in the room because I couldn’t get comfortable all night. Michael, Ella and my mother in law and I all went down Sunday morning. Michael, baby and I did our walk on the boardwalk and met up with a couple friends before getting ready for dinner that night. My sister in law was already down there and joined us for dinner:
My husband never agrees to go anywhere unless he examines the menu. We kept going back and forth as to where we wanted to eat. For me, the dinner part of the night is most important. Ella was in the hotel with my MIL and I wasn’t planning on staying out late due to that. Michael was looking more forward to cocktails and poker. What pre-mommy Laury was down for before Weezuz entered our lives. For whatever reason, he claimed he never looked at the menu and wasn’t happy that he didn’t have many options. In my opinion, there were plenty of options but that’s just me.
I was the only person that ate properly all day…Michael and his sister never really ate lunch so they were STARVING by 3pm. So when my mother in law ordered her dinner, before we went out, around 6 they both got appetizers. Meaning, I was the only one to get an app at the restaurant.
I heard that the angel hair pasta with crab meat was to-die-for so I went with that…
Michael got the same, but asked for a garlic and oil sauce since he isn’t a fan of chunky tomatoes.
she was extremely disappointed with her meal. I tried it, and it didn’t have much of a taste. It was supposed to be a dill salmon, and there wasn’t a dill flavor at all. We are not ones to complain. Given that Michael and I pretty much cleaned our plates:
The service wasn’t the best. The restaurant was not busy, yet it took them 10-15 minutes to greet us and bring over menus. The waiter never asked us how our meal was, and when he came over at the end we had to tell him that Rose was unhappy with her meal. He didn’t even apologize or anything. We weren’t necessarily looking for a comp or a free dessert…just an apology or something. In my opinion, you are as strong as your weakest link. Just because there were two clean plates on that table doesn’t mean you can disregard the one that was barely touched.
We high tailed it out of there after we paid the check.
Stopped for a photo op:
We thought about heading over to the Borgota. Which is where we usually would hang pre-baby. I wanted to stay “close to home” not that the Borgota is far but I wanted to be close enough for comfort. So we stayed at the Trop and went to RiRa, an Irish bar for more cocktails.
I stuck with this stuff for the rest of the night…
I told them about my bloggy friend, Susan who is from Dublin (so was the bartender). We were talking healthy food and they were saying how tough it is to work that into the menu on in an Irish pub. I looked at the menu and it seemed like they had some decent options for the health-conscious diner. Susan has been telling me about this organic market in Dublin(?) and I think it was called The Happy Pear. I wished I had her email on my phone, even though it was like 4am there, to ask. They were telling me places like that we kind of rare in Ireland. Most folks liked their meat and potatoes. I am not sure if you can generalize, but that’s what they said! Susan can clear that up for me 😉
My sister in laws friend were having cocktails down at Carmine’s so we went back there for a little bit before heading home. I decided that I wanted, and deserved some dark chocolate torte. It’s been SO long since I have ordered a really good, rich dessert at a restaurant. I make my own low to no sugar variety of dessert at home, and I was feeling good about my body, workouts and diet overall. Not that I need to justify it. I never did before when I was a size 2. Before this girl made my skinny jeans a far cry from even going up my thighs:
This was awaiting me when I got back to the room, in my PJ’s. My MIL and SIL joined in, well, they actually got a head start on me while I was getting washed up:
So rich. SO delicious. I didn’t realize that they were going to load the top with whipped cream. I had to scrape that off to get to the good stuff. After 5 bites it felt like you ate like 4 brownies. I packed it away and ate the rest yesterday. I’ve had a stomach ache ever since. Was it worth it? Hells yes.
