Friday Five

Happy April Fools Day. I was going to play a trick on you all but decided against it. P brain can’t think of anything more clever than saying my water broke πŸ˜‰ Didn’t want to jinx myself though, hehe. Last year I had a good one on the blog. It fooled a lot of people. I actually felt bad :/ Comments got lost when I switched over to wordpress but I assure you….people got punked πŸ˜‰

Here’s a different style Friday Five for you all today:

Current Position….

Yoga Squat

This is one of the best poses for pregnant women. Yes, Nicole, I have been doing my homework and working on this pose at home πŸ˜‰

This pose isn’t just beneficial for pregnant women. Everyone can get something out of it. Practicing this daily helps to elongate your spine, strengthens your core, open your hips, stretches your leg muscles and feet, stimulates your metabolism and helps you find balance. Best of all, the squat pose offsets the adverse effects — tighter hamstrings and hip-flexor muscles, less flexibility in the spine – of sitting for long periods of time.

How to: step by step

Currently Munching On….

Coconut Yogurt

I really try to avoid dairy as much as possible. However, I really missed yogurt and think it’s a great healthy snack. It’s tough to find a non-dairy yogurt that is low in sugar and not too processed. I found that this fit the bill for my standards. This brand is really low in sugar (only 8 grams per serving), and the ingredient list was satisfying.

I added a tablespoon of chia seeds and some organic blueberries and it made for a great mid-day snack πŸ™‚ I found that when I try to eat veganish, I eat very high carbohydrate, which isn’t necessarily bad (if you are eating the RIGHT kind of carbs). However, my body thrives when I have a little more protein. I also feel more satisfied when I have a protein (that isn’t also high in carbs) with each meal. I will have to explain this further in a later post. In the meantime, you can read my post on digestion and the absorption of carbs.

Weekend To-Do….

Thank You Cards

I am one to procrastinate on things. However, one thing I will NOT procrastinate on are thank you cards. I try and get them out as soon as possible after an event, while it’s fresh in my mind. If I were to wait any longer Ella may be here and I may no have the time.My shower was last Sunday. Hoping to get these all finished by the weekend so I can send them out next week!

How soon after you receive a gift or have an event do you send out a thank you?

Currently Excited for…

Phillies Opening Day Today!!!!!

Woot Woot! Sporting my Phillies Maternity shirt today of course πŸ˜‰

Too bad the weather is bleh.

Munchkin’s Current Position….

laying an egg in the crib :/

Hope you don’t mind me Friday Five format today! Coming up with these each week is getting tougher as my P brain gets mushier. I haven’t been able to spend as much time on the computer lately as I said before. This weekend I plan to catch up on some blogs between writing thank you’s πŸ˜‰

Baby Update: My 36 week photo is up!

Also, had me first internal exam yesterday. Ella is head down and she has dropped! She’s LOW! No dilating yet but I started to soften. Could be any time now. I think we have a few more weeks but the doc told me to rest as much as possible. That is hard for me to do these days, I have these bursts of energy randomly and think I am in nesting mode.It feels like I have so much to do still even though the room is pretty much set up. I have been doing laundry like crazy and keep finding more blankets and other things that I need to wash for Ella. Still training clients between all this and trying to keep up with my workout schedule as well. Mid-afternoon I usually crash and get tired though. Eeeekk!!!! So soon!! I think Michael is freaking out about the any day part. he likes to be fully prepared for things and this is something you are NEVER prepared for and could happen at any moment. Again, still think I have some time but the weeks are going by really fast!!!

Do you follow me on Twitter?

How about Facebook?

The Fitness Dish on FB

…in a few weeks when things happen I will make sure to try and tweet or have Michael tweet updates from the delivery room for you all πŸ˜‰

What are your weekend plans?

Do you play practical jokes on people for April Fools day, or do you think it’s immature?

You look amazing Laury! Glad Ella is doing well and is in the right position and will be meeting you soon! I love your thank you cards, very pretty. I usually like to send out thank you card soon after the event. That coconut yogurt looks good, don’t think I’ve ever had a coconut yogurt. Not a very exciting weekend for me, in work so roll on Tuesday for me and having a week off. Have a lovely weekend.

LOVE your watch me grow pics. I know, I say it every time. You are looking amazing and I noticed you are still able to wear your rings! A friend of mine has been wearing hers on a necklace because they no longer fit…

I am not good at April fools jokes but they can be fun if done with good intentions πŸ™‚

Those thank you cards are adorable.

Thanks, Keri! Yes, I have been SO lucky no swelling as of yet! I would like to attribute it to the exercise, it’s great for circulation hence helping to prevent the swelling pregnant women get. I don’t want to speak too soon though I hear the last couple weeks you blow up with fluid πŸ™

I wish I could think of a good april fool’s joke to play! I would love to fool my hubby! I’m gonna go back and read your april fool’s joke from last year!

I’ve never seen coconut yogurt (and I don’t have a specialty health food store close by that sells it). What does it taste like?

    Have great weekend!

I still think I like the taste and consistency of greek yogurt better. Haven’t had it in a long time, wish they made a vegan greek yogurt that tasted like it! The coconut yogurt is good, a lot thinner consistency but tastes good. I definitely need add-ins like berries though!

I don’t play practical jokes on anyone. My family was so full of it growing up and I really don’t like surprises that aren’t a party. hehe
    My weekend will consist of:
*first day back to college for the quarter…love my program at The Evergreen State College here in Washington state!
*getting some seedlings started for our ginormous garden this summer…thinking english garden style around the edges with the victory garden circle in the middle and about 40×40. weeeeeeeeeee!
*going to church with my kids
*finishing mending a pair of pants for a friend and organizing my sewing desk to GET BUSY (it has been awhile because of the endocrine mess)
    *baking something
*watching my 11 yo daughter play a soccer game…Go Hannah!!

Hope your weekend is great! So nice to add another friend to my life. :o)

That yoga position is seriously one of my favourites. If I’m ever feeling like I’ve got pent up emotions or am just feeling tense it’s what I go to and it always makes me feel so good!
I haven’t tried that coconut yogurt because I don’t think I’ve seen it in stores, but I’ll have to try it soon! I love me some coconut.
Also it’s funny that you say Munchkin is laying an egg in the crib, because my brother calls that the chicken position. Haha =)

ALL HAIL to the mighty pregnant one! Oh how I have missed you. πŸ™‚ I KNOW you have been missing your bloggy lovers comments the last few days!! hahaha I have been crazy busy this past week and had little to NO time for internet anything, blog posting, or reading. πŸ™ But have had all kinds of good fun. Fun items that were on the agenda included…
My sexy hubs and I took our munchkins) to the water splash parks. We were WAy more entertained with the kids little footballs and basketballs then they were and entertained ourselves for hours throwing it back and forth. We are a bunch of little kids really. Then we came home and watched the Donald Trump Roast on comedy central after we got the kids down and oh my flippin hilarious! We were laughing SO HARD.
I love the coconut yogurt. So good! I agree that the consistancy is a little too thin, but I havent had regular yogurt in so long that I cant remember. But I am thinking that the reg. yogurt are more like coconut in consistancy and greek was definitely thicker. And tangier. yes??
Ok, so two more things…1. DO NOT have that baby until the end of the week at least! You need to wait till you get my gift this week! and…
    2. I am simmering split pea soup on the stove top right now. Go tell michael its his lucky day. recipe will post soon!
Belly is SO CUTE BTW. Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awww YES how I’ve missed you!!! I want to go to the water park! Sounds like SO much fun! LOL I watched what I could of Trumps roast…the Situation was SO awkward!!!

Yes, Greek yogurt is thick and tart. I need a vegan yogurt that’s thick and tart. I will see what I can do about Ella. I am not ready for her to come until after the 18th since that’s my last day of work and Momma’s gottas pay some bills!!!! Michael will be very excited for the soup. His birthday is Sunday so maybe I’ll make it for him this week (since he already told me he wants veggie cheesy lasagna for the second time since we’ve been married).
