I just wish I was this obsessed 10 years ago!
I wanted to fill you in on a few products I have been using for a couple of months now that I am LOVING so much. DIY is great, but sometimes finding a really great product is what a girl needs to up her skin care game.
Recently, I noticed my skin breaking out more than usual. I have been cutting down on oil cleansing and my homemade serum and trying some different things … especially around that time of the month when I am really prone to hormonal breakouts. Here are a few of those things:
1. Silicon Makeup Sponges
Okay these things are impossible to photograph so I am picturing what I think it the culprit of my skin breaking out more lately.
I posted these 2 DIY recipes for cleaning your makeup brushes and sponges … which helps SO much … however, I just think these sponges are a petri dish for bacteria. I clean them every single use at this point, and replace them every couple of weeks (expensive) … and was thinking that their HAD to be another solution!
Silicon makeup brushes (get a pair of 2 here for only $6.99) are the answer!
They also don’t waste as much product since they aren’t sponges that absorb half of your foundation! I gently wash in a very small amount my homemade shampoo, rinse and dry and done! The sponges stay wet which always creeps me out, because if you think of a kitchen sponge, then think of it on your face … eek!
2. Vitamin C Serum
Art Naturals sent me a few products to post on Instagram. I wasn’t sure if I would be posting them on my blog, but I love them so much I need to tell you about them here, too.
The first time I put this Vitamin C serum on my skin tightened and brightened up!
I’ve been using this now for a month and can really tell a difference in my skin.
I love the ingredients and have been using this day and night. I put it on right after using their face toner (coming up next), let it sink in for a minute or two, then layer with other serums/day or night cream.
3. Rose Water Witch Hazel Face Toner
Prior to this I was using straight up witch hazel, and it works well … but can be very drying. This doest work for my skin, especially as we move into the fall/winter months.
After cleansing my face with the charcoal bar I place some of the toner on a cotton ball to remove any excess dirt and makeup. Like I said above, I then layer with Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, then either my homemade serum (just not around my period) or Sandalwood Face cream from Young Living.
4. Hyaluronic Acid
I randomly came across this stuff about 4 months ago and was intrigued by how it is supposed to help maturing skin. 36-year-old over here kind of freaking out about creeping closer and closer to 40.
Hyaluronic acid serums are a great pick for anyone looking for a serious boost of skin moisture, no matter your skin type. Adding more moisture to your skin care regimen is KEY in prevention and anti-aging.
Dry skin = wrinkles.
I’ve been loving it and have definitely noticed a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles for sure!
Art Naturals actually has one as well on their website, and the ingredients look a little bit better. Once I try it I will update this post if I like it better!
5. Dead Sea Mud Mask
This has been my go-to mask lately. It is easy, it isn’t messy, and my skin glows like crazy after using it. I am pretty much addicted.
I still love my collagen mask for tightening my skin and my charcoal mask for deep cleansing, but honestly, lately popping this lid off and brushing this on my face without having to heat anything or mix anything is a lazy girl’s dream (and it gives me a little of the deep cleansing and brightening and tightening!)
