Exciting Day!

Hello, Tuesday. Hello, Bloggies πŸ™‚

Thanks for all of the comments yesterday on my partial rant of a post. I was feeling very uninspired to blog, then I just started typing out random things that crossed my mind. I hope that I did not offend anyone.

With that said, I wanted to add something I forgot to the list of,

“I don’t get it’s”

prompted by a convo I overheard at the gym the other day:

Do people really still go on fad diets? Really???…..doesn’t everyone know by now that they don’t work? They only make your body store fat more efficiently in the long run. You will need to keep going on diets, yo yo-ing your way through life. I thought this was a known fact…but I was wrong. I can’t WAIT until January 1st when I start seeingΒ  facebook statuses and hearing people talk about the crash “diet” they are on. Oye Vey. Makes me want to rip my hair out of my head. Fun, fun.

I will answer my own question on many of the topics and just say that the reason “why” is that ignorance is bliss. People (in most cases, not all) do not what to know something is bad for them, they are used to doing things the way they do them, or they don’t want to give up their addictions in lieu of good health, and the dieting is because people want short cuts, instant gratification. I was once guilty of some of these things, and have changed my ways when I educated myself more (dieting, diet soda, etc). With some of the other things, though, I just don’t really get it? The information is EVERYWHERE now.

On a positive note I am VERY excited about today. I am working early this morning, training 4 clients. Then, I am going to do this DVD:

My prenatal yoga series is over, and they are only doing Monday nights in December, which I can not go to because I work until 7:30 on Mondays πŸ™

The DVD will have to do.

This afternoon, Michael and I are going to our 20 week Ultrasound appointment πŸ™‚

I will be 21 weeks tomorrow, but it’s just as well. We decided that we are NOT finding out the sex of the baby, so we have to make sure we make that clear at our appointment.

My family is very supportive of it, my mom said she likes surprises. Michael’s family however, are my sister in law is torturing us about it because they can’t stand to wait another 4 months. The Raikens do not do well with surprises. Only the ones that married into the fam πŸ˜‰ they are supportive, but still giving us a hard time.

My other sister in laws little Zachary’s sex was a surprise, so why can’t mine be too πŸ˜›

I can not WAIT to see my lil’ babes.

I can not WAIT to kiss theΒ  little baby toes in a few months.

Michael did not go to the last good ultrasound (he went to the doctors appointment instead because I thought we would be getting another ultrasound, but I was wrong) so he is especially excited to see the baby moving around!

As for now…I have been ESPECIALLY obsessed with Munchkin. I mean, I am always obsessed with him….but I feel like I am even extra obsessed lately. I just can’t get enough of him…he’s SO freakin’ cute. Maybe it has something to do with the pregnancy…but really, I can’t get enough squishing and kissing, and fussing over every move he makes. I just love him so much my heart hurts. Does that sound crazy? He’s such a love bug to me πŸ™‚

I went to bed with a smile…and woke up with one too πŸ™‚

Cliff Lee is a Phillie again!!!! We never should of got rid of him in the first place!!!

Best part about it….he turned down 50 million MORE dollars offered by the Yankees because he wanted to come home πŸ™‚

Halladay–Lee– Hamels and Oswalt. I can not WAIT for baseball season!!!!!

Are you obsessed with your pet?

If you have kids, did you find out the sex of your baby? Was your family supportive of the decision?

What’s your “I just don’t get it?”

PS– I owe you all a recipe. Just haven’t make anything new lately. Maybe seeing the baby will inspire me to cook up a new dish!

Have a great day!

Good for you! I always wanted to wait but I know when it comes down to it, I’ll want to find out. My parents were surprised when both my sister and I were born…
My I just don’t get it (although I have a lot of them) this morning is diet pills. Seriously people? I know we are a rare breed but I just cannot imagine not wanting to exercise!

I know a lot of people that didn’t find out the sex of their baby and they were so glad they did. πŸ™‚ It’s definitely a personal preference but I don’t think I’d find out the sex either. πŸ™‚

I’m unbelievably obsessed with my kitty. My boyfriend even told me last night to stop playing with her and finally give him attention (he’d just got off work). But how can I stop giggling and playing with her when she is on her back legs swaying her front paws back and forth trying to get a mouse I have dangling over her head while she makes quick sqeek-meows? πŸ™‚ (P.S. I even have a leopard print toy mouse for her – obsessed much??).

LOL, Munchkin’s FAVORITE toy is his leopard mouse! I have had to sew and tape that thing up so many times…it used to have a string you pulled that make it vibrate, he broke it, and ripped off the ears. Now it just looks like an oval leopard thing with duct tape..but it’s his favorite!!

Woo hoo! Thanks for announcing that Cliff Lee is coming back. I didn’t know! πŸ™‚

I think fad diets seem appealing to people because they hear about or even experience short-term results. Everyone is results oriented…and the faster they happen the better. Whether we maintain them or not mostly likely isn’t blamed on the diet being unsustainable, but rather that something happened on our end.

      I know, so exciting!!!

The problem with “diets” are that many of them are very low calorie diets, and the problem lies in that NO ONE can ever be fully satisfied eating 1,000 calories a day. This is why people end up over eating in the end and going on that yo you cycle. There are some diets that have SOME good elements to them, and people lose weight because simply they are changing their eating habits, but it’s usually something general, where people get bored and think they can only sustain weight by being on a “diet.” This is my problem with diets. You are right, that a lot of the time the problem lies with the person, because in the first place they are looking for a short cut and not just watching what they eat in daily life and changing their habits overall. As you and I both know, diets are also very individual, so not all “general diet plans” work for everyone. People need to find what works for them! Anyway, that’s my beef with diets, lol.

I don’t have kids, but if I were pregnant I think I’d want to know if it was a boy or a girl ahead of time. I’m a major plan-ahead kind of girl, so I’d want to know what colour to decorate the bedroom! πŸ™‚

The picture of the munchin is so frickin cute. Sometimes I think about how much I love my little fur babies. I’m sure they hate when I snuggle and kiss them all the time.

When my friend went to the doctor and didnt want to know the sex of her baby the doctor wrote it on the paper and she clearly saw that he wrote boy and she was sooooooooooo mad.

I agree with the fad diet thing. My roommate started The Master Cleanse (the lemon, cayenne, and maple syrup diet) a couple weeks ago. Thankfully, she didn’t make it a full day, but I could not for the life of me understand why she thought it was a good idea.

    December 14, 2010 at 10:52 am
    • Reply laury

Ugh, Master Cleanse…don’t even get me started. When that became big, I got creative with it and wrote out eating plans for my clients that involved that drink. The calories were appropriate for their activity level goals, weight, etc…they just felt they were cleansing with the lemon drink (which is actually cleansing for the liver. Doing ONLY lemon water for a few days in insane, and totally unhealthy and a recipe for disaster!

If I am having a boy there is some studying I am going to have to do! lol Are you going to share with us your ultrasound pics? I know I am this huge nag about you finding out the sex of the baby- but in reality I am just joking around and fully support your decision. I waited 9 long months to find out that Zachary was a boy and it was worth every second of it seeing the most precious little baby wheeled out wearing a blue hat! Good luck today at your appointment. Just sayin’ i’m not buying any clothes until the baby is here. It’s too boring buying yellow and greens!

Loved your Monday post Laury, I totally agree with all the points especially the Facebook and smoking parts. You’re totally right, people post ridiculous stuff on it 24/7. I like using facebook for keeping in contact with friends overseas and for learning more about fitness. I think it’s kind of sweet that you’re not finding out the sex of the baby. I hear most people in the States do find out the sex before the birth. Here no one finds out, they all like to keep it a surprise.
My I don’t get it- people buying muck crappy food and spending a fortune on alcohol while saying they don’t have any money. Also taking what the doctor saying as gospel and taking medication ultra fast rather than trying to heal the body with good food, sleep, exercise etc. Good luck with the ultrasound this afternoon x

I know someone who registered at a (popular chain) gym because she’s overweight. She got their training and diet plan. I was very surprised to find out that such a renowned gym had a strict diet plan involving counting calories. And strict as in someone offered her ONE piece of MANGO and she refused it because she had to stick to her diet plan. Her meal was a small salad and a rice cake!
I just can’t believe a gym would give this kind of diet plan to its clients. You have to learn how to eat better, not how to starve yourself.

I don’t have kids, and I don’t know if I’ll want to know the sex or not — I think a surprise would be fun! My sister has 2 kids and they found out the sex of the 2nd baby — but not the first. I’m not sure why they decided that!

My “I don’t get” is this: I DON’T GET WHY DRIVERS DON’T TURN THEIR HEADLIGHTS ON AT NIGHT, IN SNOW STORMS, IN RAIN STORMS, ETC. I can’t see you. Especially if you are driving a white or tan car, I can’t see you at all in the wintertime. This infuriates me!!!

Oh you just made my night! I get so excited whenever I hear that someone is going to wait on finding out if it’s a boy or a girl!! There is something so magical about it that it seems like it just has to be a surprise. But, sadly, I’m usually quite alone in that opinion.

If by obsessed you mean, carrying my cat around on my shoulder as I do chores, compulsively snuggling her, and sitting cross-legged as I type just so she has a nice comfortable place to lay and purr … then yes, perhaps I am a touch obsessed.

I don’t get how people can’t taste alternate sweeteners? I don’t “mind” a wee bit of stevia, but I can still taste it a mile away. And as for the artificial ones … really people? Those have such a weird chemical taste! I hate that they add sucralose to so many foods without a label. Just me?

I can totally taste stevia too!!!! Honestly, eating too much of it gives me a headache, I can have it like once in a blue moon (I use the pure extract too). I do much better with agave, and natural sweeteners, which I don’t use too much of either. I found when I switched from alternate sweeteners to the real stuff, my sweet tooth really lowered over time, since all the alternate stuff is SOOOO sweet!
