Chocolate Chia Overnight Oats

Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I missed you guys!

I will tell you what I have been up to in a minute, first let’s talk breakfast…

I have been doing warm oats all winter, and really have missed my V-O-O. Since I pretty much can’t handle gag when I add brown rice protein to my oats (I prefer Vega Plant Based Protein), but have a HUGE bag of Vanilla Sun Warrior, so I haven’t been able to make them. However, I thought adding some Amazing Grass and a hint of protein may do the trick for me! I feel best, and stay full longer when I have a protein, carb and fat at each meal. This is why I add a little protein to my oats…also since I eat mostly a plant based diet so I feel I thrive when I add a little vegan protein to shakes or oats.

This is a very simple recipe, few ingredients just the way I like it.

1/2 cup Rolled Oats

1 cup Unsweetened Vanilla Tempt Hemp Milk (or vegan milk of choice)

1 Heaping Scoop Amazing Grass Powder

1 Small Tbs Sun Warrior Protein (or protein of choice)

2 T Chia Seeds

1 T Cacao Nibs

Stevia to taste (or 1/2 T brown rice syrup, agave, etc), optional

Place all ingredients in a bowl stir and cover. Let sit overnight, mix up and enjoy. Add more vegan milk in the AM if needed. You can also heat up if you prefer.

I wanted to add some peanut butter soft serve to the top, but realized I was out of frozen bananas 🙁 That’s an idea for you and you wouldn’t need to sweeten it if you did!

My weekend was pretty chill. Michael and I had a low key dinner Friday night. He’s been sick with a cough and a cold all week. I bought him some Emergen-C and actually got him to down a glass. Shocking. He doesn’t realize he needs to drink more than one glass to make it effective, but whatever. I told him if he drank green smoothies like me he wouldn’t get sick, but he won’t listen.

Saturday we both went to the gym, I did 20 minutes of cardio and a quick triceps workout and some stretching. Came home and cleaned the house all day, and I just can’t stay out of the babies room. I love it in there 🙂

Munchkin does too. He graduated from the crib to my glider….

he’s so presh

even if he took my seat 😉

I started not feeling too great this weekend. Saturday I was getting a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions. Then, Sunday morning I was up doing work on the computer and got really dizzy, nauseous, hot and uncomfortable all around. Staring at the computer screen is definitely not good for me lately, unfortunately…this is why I have been kind of absent in the blog world. I’ll be around though. Michael was a mess too…you should have saw the two of us yesterday. Me on a chair with a cold rag on my face by the open window and Michael in the other room coughing every 5 seconds (which was driving us BOTH crazy). Then last night and today I am having really uncomfortable pelvic pain, I know her head has dropped so I am assuming that’s it. I go to the doc tomorrow again so I will find out what the deal is with that. I need her to hang in until after the 18th since that is my last day of work and Mommy is on a tight budget these days. We’re trying to stretch my income as much as possible since it will be non existent for the next few months.  😉

I am going to clean up around here, then attempt to get a good workout in with my sore crotch (sorry, TMI, hehe). I don’t have any clients until later today so I have to make the best of my time!

Love you all 🙂

How was your weekend???

Moms, do you remember experiencing these symptoms at the end? Any insight for me?

xxoo

Soon enough you will know when it’s your time! I hope she waits a little longer too, I think she will. I am 37 weeks Wed, she will be full term so I want it to not happen until then!

lots of experience in the mommy dept…five times. :o)
Remember what you know about every body being different…same goes for pregnancy. Definitely sounds like hormonal stuff going on though with the dizzyness and hot flashes. Changes are good! :o)

I so remember the aching pelvic though…ugh! Munchkin is sweet. Love the head tuck like saying “please let me stay on the chair.” :o)

    Have a great day!

Wow, you are super moma 🙂

Thanks for telling me it’s all normal. I figured that and know we are all different. It’s just nice to hear from other moms for re assurance. I am like obsessed with every symptom at the point since it’s so close and want to know if labor is coming! I HATE surprises, haha. I am a control freak and like to be prepared. My hubby too so we are both freaking out lol. This you can NOT control though!

    Hey Laury!

I too had the uncomfortable pelvic pain that I think you’re experiencing; I described it as a painful “clawing” feeling and kept imagining Fox with a giant man hand trying to scrape his way out! (Gross, I know). My midwife said that it was his head moving downwards and my body stretching to make room. As far as the other symptoms, yep, I had ’em too. I think they’re just your body’s way of signaling that it’s babytime!

Wishing you a fabulous birth experience,
    Justine

Hopefully she stays put until the 18th, but sounds like she’s almost ready to say hello! If you still wanna get rid of the sun warrior and not force yourself to use it, I’d still be happy to take it off your hands 🙂

Hey Samantha. Thanks…I paid $42 for the bag so I was trying to suck it up! It’s grown on me, but now that it’s overnight oats season again I am missing my Vega but too cheap to buy it!

I totally remember the whole sore pelvis feeling – no fun at all!! The last few weeks of my pregnancy were so uncomfortable, no matter how hard I tried I felt sore and uncomfortable. At least you know it’s the home stretch! As soon as you see Baby Ella you will forget all about the last few weeks!! 🙂

Sorry to hear you both weren’t feeling well over the weekend — just reading “pelvic pain” made my pelvis hurt! Ouch.

My weekend was good — nothing too exciting, we went out for dinner on Saturday and since we had ran 14 miles earlier that day, we ate ridiculous amounts of seafood. Yikes. Sunday we spent the day at home, cleaning, organizing, relaxing, etc.

Oh no hope you feel better soon. That’s a bummer there isn’t maternity leave and pay for you, over here, anyone who pays taxes is entitled to maternity pay for 6 months from the government. Have a good rest today x

Thanks, Susan. Yes, I saw that on Michael Moores movie “sicko” how in Europe the government pays you for maternity leave for 6 months and actually sends someone to your house to help you with laundry and stuff!! I was FLOORED!! I am self employed so I won’t even get paid leave from a company 🙁 Very short leave for me that means. Oh well. At lease I love my job!!!
Hope you aren’t working too hard over there 😉

I’m so sorry you are so uncomfortable. Honestly, the last month is the worst and I’m not certain there is much you can do. bah. That’s why it is annoying when people tell you to “enjoy your last month of freedom.” ha, it is SO MUCH BETTER with baby. 🙂 Love you!

I hope you’ll get better with all the contractions that’s happening to you. When the baby’s already out, you’ll forget all the pain you’ve experienced at this time. 🙂 That oat recipe is a must-try, thanks for sharing it! 😀

LOVE the overnight oats idea! So I had tons of braxton hicks at the end, and honestly some were as painful as labor for me. I actually had false labor twice with baby number 2 and it felt a least as bad as labor! BUT, if you are contracting a lot then it is sometimes a sign that your body will be a good performer during labor, and contract and deliver easily. So could be a good thing! The last month really is tough and the discomfort gets a little crazy but you will get through it and have your beautiful little Ella before you know it!
