Binky Robbery

There’s a thief in our house…

caught red handed…

then he snuggles up like he’s all innocent. She may be a newborn, but I think she’s on to you, Munchkin.

Actually, Ella is starting to hate her binkys. I’m not really complaining except for theΒ  fact that she has been particularly fussy the past couple nights.

I can’t complain much. She has been sleeping 6-7 hours through the night. However, she is up until 2 or so and I can’t always make her happy. Usually it is all solved by feeding her. But maybe she is sucking me dry with her marathon eating before bed because she starts to get mad at my boob. punching it and acting fussy.

She is definitely getting enough. We went to the Pediatrician today and she weight 8 pound 1.4 ounces! She surpassed her 7 pound 6 ounce birth weight. The doc likes to see them back at their birth weight by 2 weeks…Ella is gaining beautifully. He told me as far as feeding goes, don’t try and get her on a schedule…just go with her flow. Or my flow, should I say πŸ˜‰

Last night, her fussyness until 1:45am had me sleeping here so Michael could sleep

(he’s the one bringing home the bread right now so I have to make sure he’s rested for early morning meetings):

Munchkin kept me company and slept here all night:

Ella slept in her crib for the first time through the night (after her episode and marathon eating until 2:45am):

binky robbery and late night fussyness aside…my kid are too cute to get mad at πŸ˜‰

Needless to say I was pretty tired today. VERY sore as well.

I am trying to avoid sugar at this point. It’s been tough. Trying to keep more fresh fruit in the house, but it’s tough when I run out and can’t really go anywhere. I still haven’t driven yet post-birth.

I did make up a nice little snack last night during the time Michael was holding Ella:

Dates with raw almond butter

and I whipped up a batch of my Vegan Chocolate Pudding to have tonight. I made it with Stevia this time:

sprinkled some Raw Cacao Nibs on top. Totally best when refrigerated overnight..looking forward to having it after din tonight

(Michael’s making me broiled salmon with roasted cauliflower and asparagus as I type, Ella in lap)

It’s feeding time for Ella! I better get going before she goes haywire on Mommy πŸ˜‰

Sorry so late posting…you would think all this time on my hands I would be on the computer more. I have been on less in these past 2 weeks than I have in 2 years!

Oh, by the way..Happy 2 week Birthday to my girl πŸ™‚

This was after her second bath ever. She LOVES it.

I am anticipating taking and posting my post-baby progress pics. I’m nervous though. Maybe you will see them this week…or maybe the nest, but they are coming soon. OPBB (operation post-baby body) is underway πŸ˜‰

I’m also anticipating posting about my recovery. I do NOT want to be one of those horror story telling people. Not that it’s a “horror” story. It may come off that way. I complained when I was pregnant about the people wanting to tell me terrible things. Many of you are asking about it…I may do the PG-13 version. There are a lot of embarrassing things, but after the experience I pretty much have no shame. Like I have said before people saw ALL parts of me at the most unattractive every part has ever looked. Also, everyone has SUCH a different experience. Just because things happened to me it doesn’t mean you will have it happen to you. There’s witherΒ  a reason people don’t talk about some of the stuff post-birth. Or most of the people I know had most of the horrors during the labor and pregnancy. I had a wonderful labor and pregnancy so I guess it had to even out πŸ˜‰

Have a great night. Hope to talk to you all tomorrow night/ afternoon. Time for dinner for Ella and then me πŸ˜‰

You’ve got a great eye for photos Laury! Ella’s lucky that she’ll have so many moments documented for her when she gets older :).

I’m on Day 2 of a Sugar Cleanse (leading a group of 13 women and doing it myself)…seemed like the perfect time until I realized last night that my 1 year anni is Monday and now we can’t eat the cake until after this is over. Oh well. Gotta stay strong and get the sugar out.

Hope you get more rest tonight!

She is sooooo cute! You are doing great! It sounds like her ‘episode’ is a growth spurt! πŸ˜‰ They feed instinctively and the stimulation to your breasts actually increases milk supply even if she isn’t actually getting much -like at the 2am feeding. It takes 24 to 48 hours to see an increase in supply and you may find the baby sucking non-stop or doing what you said….getting ‘mad’ at your breast. They get frustrated because nothing (I say nothing, but it’s actually just less than they would like) is coming out but the hard work she is doing will pay off when your supply is increased and she gets a full tummy from that feeding! Growth spurts are crazy little things! She’ll probably act like a completely different baby for 5-7 days and then she’ll be ‘back to normal’ and hopefully sleeping better again! Also, you should definitely tell your story! Have a great weekend!

Hehehe, clever Munchkin. Wait til Ella starts get back at him!
On talking about “all” aspects of your pregnancy, one of those the things I’ve respected about you the most is your ability to really just tell things like they are. So many people either only stick to the horror stories OR just sugar-coat everything, but I love that you are talking about your pregnancy in a very real way. I think that’s super helpful for people and so much more realistic! Keep at it! And keep enjoying mommy-hood πŸ™‚ xox

I would love to hear your story as well! There’s a difference between telling someone a story to FREAK THEM OUT and just documenting your experience. I just ready a birth story and she started it by saying “everybody has their own experience, but YOU WILL feel like such and such and it DOES feel like this and this.” It was really annoying because I had a different story and she wasn’t saying how it was for her, but HOW IT IS. AndI found it annoying.
