Hello! I am Laury.
I started a blog in 2009 called The Fitness Dish to share all of my health tips with my friends, but what it really did was give me an outlet and a space to share my life as I tried to maintain a healthy balance after struggling for more than half of my life with an eating disorder.
I started having babies, chronicled my pregnancies, and I wasn’t really feeling my blog anymore after that.
Somewhere in between there I became a yoga instructor, started a nutrition business, wrote an e-book, and got really into DIY beauty & body care, essential oils … and wine.
I went from being vegetarian and vegan on and off (for 18 years!) to finally listening to my truth as a (responsible) omnivore.
I went from being a full-time personal trainer to closing my PT/Bootcamp/Sports Training business after 12 years.
My vision has changed a little, but my path remains the same.
My favorite thing to do is share wellness knowledge with my friends: it’s my passion, and the road I was meant to be on. Everything I have done along the way has taught me and led me to right now.
I am obsessed with yoga. It changed my life and my perspective in so many ways, and I can’t wait to share more about how.
I’ve merged my favorite posts from The Fitness Dish, delicious healthy recipes from my nutrition program (formally called “Freevive” and now “Flowtox“), and my love for yoga and all things wellness, family, and life on this blog.
This is me. All of my passions poured into one place.
In October 2015 we rushed my son to the emergency room after he had a reaction to tree nuts. He was diagnosed with a life-threatening allergy and it has been scary and challenging, but we are handling it. You will find many old posts on here containing nuts, those are some of my best creations that I can no longer enjoy … but I want you to (as long as you don’t bring any of it over to my house).
I’d love to connect with other allergy moms so we can share our experiences keeping our babies safe with one another.
Basically, expect to see some of the awesome food I love to make, wellness tips, detoxing the home, YOGA love, as well as (some) fitness, and random stuff about my amazing, adorable, CRAZY kids (2 humans, 2 fur-babies).
I’m not perfect and I don’t want to be.
I enjoy chocolate, red wine in the winter, a nice Rosé or a Shock Top in the summer, I eat out sometimes, and some days my only form of exercise is wresting my toddler’s toys away from my crazy 70-pound puppy. I enjoy health and wellness A LOT, but I also enjoy some not-so-healthy things. All we can do is try our best to make big or small changes each day that will make the world a better place … having fun and being kind along the way … while sharing our love and our truth in the process. This blog shares a mostly the healthy stuff, but just know there’s more to the story that I won’t always have time to write about!
